For a long time now I’ve been a secret stamp collector, not quite the ‘love that dare not speak it’s name’ but not something I’ve generally brought up at social gatherings. The upcoming Olympics has made me revisit these little paper jewels — it seems to bring out the best in stamp designers over recent times — and looking back I can see what a powerful visual record they are and what a loss it will be when digital eventually brings the end of ‘snail mail’.
