The Man Who Sold the World (K) — David Bowie
The Black Edition
Following the 40th anniversary of the release of Ziggy Stardust, I began revisiting all Bowie’s classic seventies albums. Those iconic 12” sleeves are imprinted on my visual DNA and played a big part in my becoming a designer — the hours I spent trying to copy the sleeve of Aladdin Sane onto my school rucksack. Inspired by seeing the ‘Art Remix’ series by Gary Andrew Clarke, I thought I’d apply the same thinking to this seminal series of albums which were such an important part of my life growing up as a teenager in Leeds. A selection of these prints were available at the V&A museum for the duration of the exhibition ‘David Bowie is’ in 2013.
