Northbank first started working with Urban&Civic on their Alconbury Weald development in 2011. We’re proud of the work we’ve produced together ever since.
As one of Urban&Civic’s key strategic sites, the former Cold War airfield in Cambridgeshire is on a vast scale. To keep pace with this face-moving development of 5,000 new homes and 3 million sq ft of business space, Northbank created the brand idea of ‘Make|Grow’ to help create a vision for the development. The brand has been applied across buildings, on a diverse range of print, on clothing, on multiple hoardings, through to digital and wayfinding. Regular and informative newsletters are produced: The Warbler, designed for the residential community; and Make|News which targets a wider audience.
Urban&Civic are bold in their ambition, honest in imparting information, some of which is, by its nature, very detailed. To help make the content more accessible, an uncomplicated, playful, friendly graphic language of icons and supported messaging helps to bring the brand to life, ensuring material is never dull and always recognisable as Alconbury Weald.
Our journey with Urban&Civic continues with collaborations on the branding for other strategic sites, such as RadioStation Rugby, Wintringham St Neots, and for their own housebuilding offer, Civic Living.
